Zortrax Library is an online platform where you can share 3D projects with the community of designers. Discover the best models, download for free and 3D print using your 3D printer. To start simply register, add your project, attach photos and you're ready to go! All the files stored within Library are of .stl, .dxf or .obj formats perfectly suitable for 3D printing.

The Modular Arm

The Modular Arm model is a prototype of an arm in natural proportions. It was 3D printed using Zortrax M200 and assembled using screws. No gluing needed. The fingers and the wrist is movable so the prototype is very much like the actual human hand. The accurate adjustment of parts allows you to easily move particular elements. The Modular Arm model is perfect for educational application!

Project details

The Modular Arm model was 3D printed using 2 kind of materials: the Z-HIPS Black and Z-ULTRAT Red, Black and Grey. We chose them for better surface quality and durability of the model. Both materials are also perfect when it comes to accuracy. Parts were assembled using screws, with no gluing needed. The layer thickness for our model is 0,14 mm with light infill of the part. Printing time for the model was 202h 21 min and materials usage was 1419 g.

I think, that this is very expensive. 1.5 kg of plastic may cost more than 30€ for a single arm, plus screws, electricity and failed prints… yeah, big price.

The files for Hand 01 and 02 are the the pieces that go around the bottom of 12, but I am not sure what happens with the bottom of 12 and what it connects to?
