Although I don’t really play chess, I’ve wanted to design and print a set of chess pieces for some time now, possibly as a gift. I’ve included all the STL files for each of the playing pieces as well as all the pieces for a chess board. Once all the pieces are printed, you need to clean each piece and clip the opposite colour base to each piece.
The board is based on a puzzle but with the interlocking pieces hidden underneath a smooth top layer. The board pieces were also printed right way up with supports. All the pieces clipped together perfectly with no play.
I printed each of the parts as though they were in the playing position with the following basic parameters:
• 20% infill
• high quality
• layer hight of 0.14mm
• material: ABS2
• Support enabled
You will then need the following:
In dark
• 8 pawns
• 16 base rings
• 2 castles
• 2 knights
• 2 bishops
• 1 queen
• 1 king
• 1xCBP2-7
• 3xCBP2-5
• 3xCBP2-2
• 1xCBP2-3
• 3xCBP2-6
• 3xCBP2-8
• 18xCBP2-4
In light
• 8 pawns
• 16 base rings
• 2 castles
• 2 knights
• 2 bishops
• 1 queen
• 1 king
• 1xCBP2-1
• 3xCBP2-2
• 3xCBP2-6
• 1xCBP2-9
• 3xCBP2-8
• 3xCBP2-5
• 18xCBP2-4
